  • Step 1: Sort out your website. Is it professional? Does it have an up to date theme? Is it legal (has privacy policy, cookie consents and disclaimers in all the right places). Does it have a way to capture leads? Being able to capture leads is very important as no leads = no one to convert into customers. Make sure you have a lead magnet on your site!
  • Step 2: Sort out your social media. How many platforms are you on? You should really only be on 2 (possibly 3 if you know what you’re doing). You need to look professional wherever you are online and if you are trying to be everywhere I can guarantee that on some of those sites you are going to look amateurish. You don’t have time to be everywhere unless you are paying a social media manager. Also, is your social media generating leads for you? Make sure you have a lead magnet on your Facebook cover, LinkedIn profile etc to generate leads from there too. (You can click on the links to see examples of mine.)
  • Step 3: Sort out your offers. Most small businesses that I work with make the same offer to everyone and this is a mistake. Everyone has a different need or expectation and the more you can match your product or service to these needs, the more easily you will be able to make sales. Create different offers for different people as trying to please everyone will result in pleasing no one. Make sure you are segmenting your customers.
  • Step 4: Sort out your follow-up system. Getting leads is great but if you don’t do anything with them they are never going to become customers and that’s just a huge waste of time and effort. Once someone becomes a lead be sure to follow up with them on a regular basis. If you can, try and add value for them or give them an opportunity to get to know you and try before they buy. This is still a very successful sales tactic so make sure you have a follow up system in place.
  • Step 5: Sort out your sales funnel. Making a sale is great isn’t it? But making several sales to the same person is even better isn’t it? This can be much easier to achieve if you set up a proper sales funnel and know exactly how you are going to take your customer from your free offer to your most expensive product or service. We all know that it’s much easier to sell to an existing customer than it is to a brand new one so make the most of this opportunity and make sure you have proper sales funnel set up.
