Are you looking for a few simple ways to massively increase traffic to your new website or blog? Great, read on coz this post is for you…

I will show you 3 simple and quick tips to massively increase traffic to your new website without you having to do much more than you are already doing. Interested? Of course you are, so read on my friend…

Obviously the best way to get traffic to your website is to create some content that you then promote. This might be a blog post, a video, a podcast or an advert or sales page.

Regardless of what your content is, there are some proven ways to ensure it gets found by more people, and that when they do come across it they click on it. This in turn will massively increase the traffic to your website.

So, without further ado, let’s have a look at those 3 quick tips.

Tip 1: Get a great headline.

By far the fastest way to grab someone’s attention is with a great headline. The headline should be something that appeals to a specific person. It needs to answer a question, promise the solution to a problem (like this one does) or it should offer to alleviate a pain point.

The best way to find out what your audiences biggest problems are is to join Facebook groups, networking groups or online forums. Listen out for the questions or problems that seem to crop up over and over again. Think about what you can do to solve that problem or answer that question.

This post is helping new business owners to massively increase traffic to their websites. The headline says exactly that. It is enticing but there are a few reasons why it’s enticing.

Firstly it promises to provide a solution to a “SPECIFIC” problem. The problem in this case being “getting people to visit a new website”. So the specificity of the headline is going to attract people (like you) who are looking for a solution to that specific problem.

Having an ambiguous headline, or one that is too generic isn’t going to appeal to anyone in particular so it won’t be nearly as effective.

Secondly it contains emotional marketing value words. These are words that draw people in because they invoke feelings in the reader. For example, this post headline says “massively” increase traffic to your website instead of just “increase traffic to your website”. Can you see the difference?

Obviously your claim must be true otherwise you will develop a reputation for being unethical and just producing what is known as “click bait” instead of valuable content that can truly help and support your ideal customer.

To play around with your headlines and discover these emotional marketing value words there is a free tool called AMInstitute that you can access right here. Warning!!! it can be seriously addictive!

Simply put your headline into the analyser and then play around with it until you score the highest points you can.

Thirdly it is a list. 3 Quick Tips. It has been found through much research by many marketers over many years that lists are more clickable than non-lists. Why is this?

Well it’s a bit like me saying, “I’ve got a secret but I’m not going to tell you what it is”. Once I say that, you HAVE to know what it is. A list is kind of the same thing. I am saying I have 3 quick tips and you need to know what those tips are. FOMO is a common term used in marketing Fear Of Missing Out. You don’t want to miss out on something that could be important.

Also, just as an additional note, odd numbers are clicked on far more often than even numbers so make sure you pick an odd number for your headline.

Tip 1 summary

  • Choose a headline that answers a specific questions or provides a solution to a specific problem.
  • Include some emotional marketing value words
  • Use a list based headline if you can

Tip 2: Share the content in the right places

This tip is probably the most important as it is the one that will get your clickable headline in front of as many people as possible. The more people who come across it, the more clicks you will get.

But, where exactly is the right place to share your content?

This will kind of depend on your business and where your ideal customer is. For example if you want to sell your product to women 50 years old and above then you need to be on Facebook. If you want to sell to men 25 – 40 you will probably need to be on Linkedin or YouTube. If you want to sell to 13 – 19 year olds then snapchat, tick-tock or whatsapp is probably where you should be.

But…

Apart from social media sites there are a couple of other places I recommend you share your content that will massively increase traffic to your website.

The first place is Pingomatic.com

What is Pingomatic? Ping-O-Matic is a service to update different search engines that your website has updated. This is particularly useful for bloggers or those of you who use blogging as a way of reaching out to your audience.

It is free to register and to use and you simply enter the URL of your landing page or blog post that you want to promote and then press send pings. It really is that simple. See the image below.

As you can see I have left the RSS URL blank and I have checked all the services to Ping boxes. You should do this too to get maximum exposure for your content.

Okay, so Pingomatic is really easy but very effective. Now for another method that is also amazingly effective but involves a bit more work.

The second place is Pinterest.co.uk or Pinterest.com depending on where you are in the world.

Most new business owners that I work with have no idea what Pinterest is. They think it is somewhere for people to share pictures of knitting patterns or recipes. So what is Pinterest then?

Pinterest is a search engine. Imagine it as Google with pictures. Let me show you an example of what I mean.

I keyed “how to increase traffic to your website” into the Google search bar and this is what it showed me.

Now I keyed the same thing into the Pinterest search bar and this is what it showed me.

Can you see how Pinterest is far more visual? It is because of this that Millennials are now turning to Pinterest rather than searching for things on Google. They like to “see” what they are getting rather than just read some information.

You will also see that each one of these pins is a mini advert. It has a headline, some information about what is behind the pin and a link to your website. As you can see, my pin is there on the end. This appeared on page one of the Pinterest results which means that anyone else searching for that information is likely to be shown my pin as an option.

Once they click on my pin it opens up a description like you can see below.

You can also see that The Sian Elizabeth Group saved this pin to one of their boards which means I can now be seen by all their followers as well as my own. That little pin in the top right hand corner shows how many times this pin has been repinned by other pinners and the more repins you get the more chance you have of someone clicking through to your website.

Once they’ve read the description they can then decide whether they want to read more and if so they simply click on the pin which then takes them directly to my website. You can see where they end up in the image below.

How I am using my blog posts to increase traffic to my website

As you can see, they end up on the blog post on my website. One more click, one more visitor to my site. More clicks = more traffic. Pinterest is now responsible for 75% of my website traffic.

If you would like to read more about Pinterest and how it increased my traffic you can see that blog post right here.

Summary of tip 2:

  • Choose the right social media platform for your audience
  • Use Pingomatic to alert thousands of people that you have produced new content on your website
  • Use Pinterest to produce some amazingly visual and clickable adverts that lead directly back to your website.

Tip 3: Tell Google to Index Your Website

Google can take literally months to get around to reading and indexing your content if you don’t tell it that you have something new. This quick tip will help you to get it ranked much more quickly.

First you need to set your website up with Google. Enter “Google Search Console” into your browser. Click on the Google.com option that is usually shown first.

Set up your site with Google so that you get the option to use the URL inspector. This is all totally free so don’t worry you won’t get charged for anything.

Once you are all set up you simply need to add the new URL of any page or post that you create to the inspector, check that it’s live on Google and then ask it to be indexed. Hey Presto! Not only have you speeded up the process of getting your content indexed but Google knows it’s there now and can start offering it as a result for searchers. See the image below which shows what you are looking for.

Once you start appearing in the search results you will obviously massively increase the traffic to your website.

Summary of tip 3:

  • Go to Google search bar and enter Google search console
  • Set up your website so that you can use the tools
  • Each time you publish a new page or post go to the URL inspector
  • Enter the URL of your content and test that it’s live on Google.
  • Request indexing

The whole process takes less than 2 minutes once you are set up and yet it will save you months of waiting around for Google and other search engines to find and index your site and it’s contents.

Okay, so that’s all there is to it. Like I said 3 quick tips to massively increase traffic to your new website or blog. If you implement all 3 I can guarantee that you will see an increase in your visitors and not only that but they will be visitors that are interested in what you have to say and sell.

Having 200,000 visitors a month is nice if every one of those visitors were a potential customer, but most often they aren’t. If you attract the wrong person they will not stick around on your site for very long and so reduce your time on site metric which is not good and they will also increase your bounce rate which is also not good.

Instead you are looking for fewer visitors but the ones you do get should be engaged. They should be leaving comments, asking questions, completing your opt-ins, subscribing to your blog or newsletter and of course, buying your products or services.
