Are you looking for free websites for small businesses? Good you are in the right place.
Website creation can be off-putting for a small business owner. You either have to bite the bullet and overcome your fear and create one of your own, or you have to outlay cash to someone else to create it for you, and this can be expensive.
But it doesn’t have to be scary or expensive. I kid you not, you can build a website in just a couple of hours for freeOR you can get one built for you for just £200. Interested in learning how to do this? Read on…

next 26 weeks I will be sharing my alphabet of good practices so that you are
well prepared for your journey to success. So, let’s get started…
A is for
Action and Achievement
good job that these two things begin with A because in my opinion, if you don’t
take notice of these things, nothing else will fall into place for you. Here’s
what moves us from one place to another. It is the actions we take that
determine the results we get. Let me explain.
wanted to learn to drive. I would need to take certain actions to bring about
the desired result wouldn’t I? I would need to find an instructor. I might need
to save some money to pay for my lessons. I would then actually have to take
the lessons and apply what I learn during those lessons. I will have to practice
and perhaps take a mock driving test before finally taking what I hope will be
the final action of taking my driving test.
If I had
done none of those things, if I had just sat at home and thought about
learning to drive I would never be in a position to pass my driving test and
reason some people think that starting a business is somehow different. They
think that if they just THINK about becoming successful hard enough and long
enough then it will somehow magically happen. Well I’m sorry to have to be the
one to burst that bubble but it just won’t happen unless you take the necessary
actions that will bring about the desired results.
comes first, action or achievement?
that seems a little odd thing to ask but consider this… If you don’t know
what you are trying to achieve how will you know what actions you need to take?
first thing you need to be clear about is what EXACTLY you want to
achieve with your business. Here are some things to think about:
What numbers do you want to achieve? Think of your monthly and annual turnover
How quickly do you want to achieve this? Knowing your time frame will help you determine what actions you need to take to achieve it.
Who do you want to serve? By having a really good understanding of your ideal customer you are more likely to have a good idea of what is achievable.
have determined what you would like to achieve it is time to start planning
your objectives and setting your action points. Some of us call this goal
setting but it is also called business planning and business analysis and
other business-related things, there is a skill involved in proper goal
setting. You need to know how to set proper goals in order to ensure you achieve
are not a gifted goal setter don’t worry, I have created a short course on goal
setting that you can download right here. It will teach you how to create
goals you simply can’t help but achieve.
actions should a new business be concentrating on?
thing you should ABSOLUTELY do is
start collecting leads. Leads are the life-blood of any company and without
them you have no one to turn into customers. No leads = no customers = no
business. So, important! Get Leads!
many ways to go about this:
ex-colleagues or customers
lead magnets online
social media platforms
adverts in the local paper or business magazines
Facebook groups where people are looking for solutions to the problem you fix
in online forums to showcase your expertise
live-streamed tutorials on your Facebook page
Facebook group for your ideal customers
by no means an exhaustive list and I’m sure you can think of a few more ways to
attract the kind of person who could become your ideal client.
the answer was obvious. I wanted to do everything as QUICKLY and EASILY as
possible so for me it was the online options. And thankfully for me, there are
a lot of online options, and to be honest I make use of most of them.
not to say that I ignore the offline options because I don’t. Every month I run
free workshop in my local area for new business owners to come and learn about
marketing their businesses online. If you live in the UK you could come along
to one, or all of them. You can find when the next ones are right here.
workshops are basically actions that
I take to enable me to meet my ideal customers (new or small business owners
who are looking for help with online marketing). But that is just the first
action. It’s the next action that really helps…
follow up with them after the workshop. To be honest, it is most unlikely that
you are going to convert a free workshop attendee into a buying customer right
there and then. For starters they are not thinking about spending money because
they are primed for a free event.
action I take is to prime them for a paid event. This might be a follow-on
masterclass where they come and work with me to get things done quicker. It
might be an online course or email course that I have developed to help them
overcome a particular problem or hurdle they are facing in their business. I
make sure I tell them about it. I explain how it can help them and what the
benefits of taking that course would be. I convert them from leads into paying
is that I am taking action. I am not just sitting back and waiting for
something to happen. I am being proactive in my business and MAKING things happen.
How do you know when you have
achieved your objective?
sound silly, but some people don’t actually know whether they are achieving
their objectives or not. I ask how they are getting on and they give me all
sorts of random information like “yeah, okay, but I’m not really making any
sales yet” and I will say something like “so how many leads are you generating
each week?” and they will say something like “I dunno, about 20 I think”.
wonder they’re not making any sales. If they don’t know how many leads they’re
generating I can guarantee they are not following up with them and they are not
engaging them and turning them into raving fans of the product or service that
is being promoted.
to be able to measure your performance. If you can’t measure it, you can’t
manage it. If you took me up on my offer of my mini course on goal setting you
will know exactly how to go about putting measures in place within your goals
and objectives. Here’s that link again in case you want to have a go now.
you need to set yourself some quantitative measures so that you can easily see
if you are hitting them. For example; set yourself a goal of 2 leads per day,
or 60 per month. By doing this it is easy to see if you are achieving those
figures or not. It gives you an early warning system that things might need
tweaking or re-visiting if you are not on target. Don’t wait until the end of
the year and then wonder why you aren’t where you wanted to be.
Action = Achievement
I have shown how action leads to achievement. The road to success is paved with
actions. The actions you take should be ones that lead you to the results you
want in the most straight forward way possible. This will speed up your achieving
the actions you choose are the right ones for your business, don’t just take
the easy road. If it isn’t the right action it won’t bring about the right
result. Think again about what you want to achieve. Then think about the
quickest and best way of achieving that result. Brainstorm some options if
necessary and carefully analyse each one to see which would be the best option
who want to just get on with it and achieve awesome results in super quick time
I have discovered an amazingly simple system that pretty much guarantees
results. It involves just 3 stages, it doesn’t cost a single penny to implement
and it is so easy that ANYONE can do
it and it works for any business. If you would like to know more about this
system AND how to implement it into your own business get my free guide here.
for my next post next week which is covering B. To make sure you don’t miss it
why not subscribe to my blog and I’ll drop you a quick email to let you know
when it’s published.
That’s all from me for now. Go and sort out your goals and get those achievements and actions points sorted.
Are you looking for business support for startups from someone who is actually running a business rather than a signposting service, or worse, an organisation that doesn’t actually know the first thing about running a business because they don’t have to make a profit as they get government funding.
Don’t get me wrong, signposting is an essential service for new and small businesses but it is a bit annoying when all you want to do is ask someone for help and actually get it – right there and then rather than be sent round the houses to find someone who can actually help you achieve your desired outcome.
I know this because I was in the same situation just a few years ago, and again a couple of years ago when I had to completely change my business model due to loss of funded contracts that I was working on. Here’s what I did and how I can help you…
